IT VILLAGE IN EACH DISTRICT
WE are progressing towards a Digital Bangladesh as envisioned by the Prime Minister. And to that end , the State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said on Wednesday(12th February)that IT village would be set up in each district of the country to supplement the concept of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ by expanding the IT industry.”The process is on to establish the IT village, which will help flourish IT based economy by involving the rural people,” he told a meet- the press at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).
Senior officials of the ministry and journalists from different print and electronic media were present on the occasion. The country witnessed a remarkable progress in the field of ICT in the last five years due to time-befitting initiatives taken by the government, The government has envisioned its philosophy Vision 2021: Digital Bangladesh leading towards use of ICT to leverage economic growth and development to transform Bangladesh into a middle- income country by 2021.
All of us should work from our respective position by adopting knowledge on information technology (IT) to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahm. The potentiality of software industry, is being explored by the government setting up a software technology park at Kawran bazaar in the city to boost software industry in the country.
A project involving Taka 180 crore has been taken to expand ‘Learning and Earning Programme’ to create IT skilled people, and 13,454 youths have already been given training under the programme. The country has a huge potentiality of earning foreign currency from outsourcing. The youths can earn money from outsourcing, if they are given training under the learning and Earning programme. With IT villages in all districts , there will be a scope for both rural and urban people in participating in the IT revolution and we will be ahead in this respect among the SAARC countries.
