Prime Minister’s Advisor on International Affairs Dr Gowher Rizvi has observed that the recently held meeting of Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will give the NAM member countries a choice of options to firmly stand by the Palestinian people.

The observation came during his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in Tehran on Monday.

“(Gowher) Rizvi thanked his Iranian counterpart for convening the emergency meeting and reaching consensus on an action-oriented outcome document that should give the NAM Member States a choice of options to firmly stand by the Palestinian people and denounce the continued Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip,” said a release of the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister’s Advisor and the Iranian Foreign Minister also expressed dismay at the inability of the international community to restrain Israel from its latest atrocities resulting in indiscriminate killing of civilians, including women and children, the release added.

In the meeting, Gawher Rizvi also stressed increasing economic cooperation between the two countries.

“Bangladesh and Iran enjoy excellent bilateral relations on the political front, while more needs to be done to realize the economic potentials that still remain untapped,” he said.

Dr Rizvi is in Tehran to attend the emergency meeting of the Palestine Committee of the NAM that was held on Monday.
