PRESIDENT OF ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK PRAISES BANGLADESH’S POVERTY REDUCTION STRATEGY

Economic Correspondent: President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao on Sunday praised the Bangladesh’s recent poverty reduction advancement.

The ADB boss raised his praise for Bangladesh’s success on poverty reduction while briefing a group of reporters, at a press conference held at the ADB headquarters, in the capital’s Agargaon area.

Earlier, Bangladesh has reduced its poverty at 31 percent.

“In the upcoming fiscal year Bangladesh may be gained 6.2 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) while the government has set 7.3 percent in its proposed budget,” Takehiko Nakao added.

“ADB is aiding Bangladesh in its different infrastructure sectors-Power, gas, roads, railway, civil amenities along with vocational training,” ADB President iterated.

The ADB president had arrived in Dhaka on Saturday night for a two-day visit.
